These are the five horses at Hacienda Los Ponce. Each one has its own personality, its own story and its own role here.
The horses are at the heart of everything here. Each one brings its own personality, story and role in the herd. They are partners and teachers as much as anything else, and they are the clearest argument for the trust-based way the training program works. Several are for rent. A couple are for sale. Dolly
A retired barrel racer from the mainland. Calm, experienced, and the horse I put beginners on. She is the steady one the rest of the herd learns from.

Out with riders
Dolly, Barbara, Cha Cha go out on hire. Dolly suits a beginner, Barbara does Paso Fino shows and photo sessions, and Cha Cha takes an intermediate rider round a gymkhana. He is not a beginner horse. Rates depend on the date and the event.

Looking for their own person
Cha Cha at $1,500 and Paco at $7,000. Both are Puerto Rican Paso Finos, and island wide delivery is available.

Which horses can I rent, and what can I do with them?
Three of the five. Dolly is for rent and suits beginner riders for barrel racing and gymkhana. Cha Cha is for rent for intermediate riders for gymkhana, and he is not a beginner horse, and he is also for sale at $1,500. Barbara is for rent for Paso Fino shows. Paco is for sale at $7,000. Rental rates depend on the date and the event, so ask me and I will give you a number.
Why is a Paso Fino so smooth to ride?
Each hoof hits the ground on its own. Four beats, one foot at a time, so you barely bounce. There are three speeds. Classic fino is tiny and fast, for the show ring. Paso corto is the everyday trail speed. Paso largo covers ground as fast as a canter and you still stay sitting.

Three of these horses came in with a problem and were worked through it, which is what the training program is, and you can watch the work on the training videos page. Dolly is a retired barrel racer, and barrels and poles are what gets run at the rodeos here on the island. If you want to know where the Paso Fino came from before you buy one, read the breed history, and if you want the other side of this herd, Dolly and Sadie are Paints and that breed has its own five hundred year history. If you buy one, it can be delivered anywhere in Puerto Rico.
