Trust-based horsemanship
Barefoot Riding PR was born out of a deep belief that horses deserve to be understood, not controlled. We practice Barefoot Riding Horsemanship, building partnerships rooted in trust, respect, and clear communication.
The herd at Hacienda Los Ponce in Isabela, where we are based, is small and carefully chosen. Each horse has their own personality, their own story, and their own role in our program. We don’t rush the process. We let the horse tell us when they’re ready.

We believe in the power of trust-based relationships with horses. Barefoot Riding Horsemanship is not just techniques. They’re a philosophy that honors the horse’s natural instincts and builds genuine partnerships.
Our approach focuses on what’s natural for horses: allowing them to move freely, developing their awareness and confidence, and creating a communication framework based on subtle cues rather than force.
Meet our horses
Dolly
A retired barrel racer from the mainland. Calm, experienced, and the horse I put beginners on. She is the steady one the rest of the herd learns from.
Sadie
Dolly’s daughter. She got her mother’s temperament and is a natural with people. She stays here and works with me.
Barbara
Steady and dependable with a quiet strength. One of the most trusted horses here for both training work and photo sessions.
Cha Cha
Light on his feet with personality to match. An eight year old Puerto Rican Paso Fino gelding, chestnut, based here in Isabela.
Paco
A bright, friendly one year old Paso Fino stallion with a sweet disposition and a beautiful brown coat. Starting clean, with no bad habits.

We are based in the beautiful coastal town of Isabela on Puerto Rico’s northwest coast. Surrounded by lush green pastures, dramatic cliffs, and some of the best sunsets on the island, it’s the perfect setting for everything we do.
Whether you’re coming for a photography session, dropping off a horse for training, or just visiting the herd, you’ll feel the difference that this place makes.
